The Production Services team were in London earlier this month attending The Location Guide’s FOCUS industry event at the Business Design Centre in Islington.
This was the second time that the TLG FOCUS event has been run, and it brought together film commissions, location providers and production services companies from over 50 countries.
Kaye Elliott, our soon to be departing Head of Production Services, spoke on a panel about filming in the Nations and Regions where she was joined by Moyra Lock from Northern Ireland Screen, Allison Dowzell from Wales Screen, Rosie Ellisson from Edinburgh Film Office and Fiona Francombe from Bristol’s Bottle Yard Studios. Subjects ranged from the strength of the studio infrastructure in the UK and the impact of the high-end TV tax credit to the potential impact of Brexit on the industry. It was chaired by Andy Weltman, formerly of the British Film Commission, who is now the Managing Director of APA International.
The team had meetings with a variety of delegates including an insurance company looking to offer bespoke packages to emerging filmmakers, a supplier of temporary sound stages and a New York based locations and production company looking to bring productions into the North West of England. Brek Taylor, Creative England’s new Head of Film, also attended the stand to meet with writer, director and producer talent who wanted advice and guidance on the funding and support packages we offer.
It was a pretty intensive couple of days with lots of enquiries at our stand, as well as the chance to network with the other nations, the UK’s Film Offices and some commercial location agencies who were also exhibiting.
If anyone missed their chance to get in touch with us on the stand, please do email email@example.com and we would be delighted to hear from you.
