Market Trader Participants Gear up for the EFM at Berlinale

The European Film Market and Berlinale film festival are just around the corner. For film executives and producers, navigating international film markets can be a daunting experience, a landscape of deal making, negotiation and pressured pitching. Market Trader is a development programme designed to give film professionals across the value a chain a better understanding of the international market place.

Funded by Creative Skillset to support the BFI’s international strategy for UK Film and after a successful first year in 2015, this year’s programme is in full swing. 

12 talented producers, distribution and sales executives were selected for Market Trader’s comprehensive package of support. On the back of an intense 4 days of workshops, participants will now will attend EFM under the wing of top industry mentors including: Oscar-winning film producer and sales/marketing strategist Mia Bays; distribution expert Julia Short; film and acquisitions consultant Beatrice Neumann; and writer and producer Peter Ettedgui.

Pitching, selling, negotiating and closing deals will put participants’ new found skillset to the test in a real, fast-paced film festival market environment. Each participant of this year’s Market Trader cohort will be able to use their wider industry knowledge from the Market Trader training to take their film project to potential buyers and make their three-day-stay at the film market a success.

This year’s participants include Sales Executive, Yana Georgieva from Bankside Films as well as Distribution Executive, Sally Hodgson from Pipoca Pictures. Joining them are Producers:
