Creative England Funded SME Wriggle Launches eCommerce Website Following £400K Raise

Bristol-based SME Wriggle has launched a new eCommerce website to help develop their goal of encouraging more customers to use independent local establishments over retail chains.

The launch comes shortly after the company successfully raised £400,000 through a SEEDRS crowdfunding campaign and support from Creative England’s Equity Investment Programme. This new stage of development will see the company transition from a mobile-app only platform to a full desktop service, opening Wriggle up to new audiences across Bristol, London and Brighton.

Created in 2014, Wriggle is a mobile-app and website marketplace helping customers discover and save money from brilliant local and independent cafes, bars and restaurants in Bristol and now restaurants in Brighton and London - and now works with 480 independent establishments.

Previous to the launch of their website, their mobile app received over 40,000 downloads, attracting around 18,000 new customers into independent establishments in the process. With the debut of its desktop website, Wriggle looks set to increase both its current user base and partner venues.

Wriggle Founder Rob Hall said:

"The response to Wriggle's crowdfunding round has been amazing. We've come a long way in just under two years, and we've got big plans for the next few years - starting with this beautiful new website and making Wriggle available to as many people as possible.”

The Wriggle services benefits both customer and retailer whilst encouraging people to spend in the local economy. The company’s current investment round will remain open for a few more days, with interested parties able to contribute as little as £15.
