Creative England Funded Company Twile Announce Strategic Partnership with FindMyPast

Doncaster-based family history tracking service Twile has announced a new strategic partnership with leading genealogy site FindMyPast. The company has previously received Creative England investment via our partnership with the DotForge Accelerator programme.

This news comes just weeks after the team took home two innovation awards at Rootstech 2016, the world’s largest family history event held in Salt Lake City, Utah. This new partnership reflects FindMyPast’s dedication to putting innovation at the heart of its future development and showcases the value that can be found when big businesses embrace the power of small media enterprises.

Twile’s exclusive service allows users to store and curate timelines of their family history, including photo galleries and key milestones. All of this is stored privately, allowing viewers access to the broad picture of their entire family tree, from ancestors to new additions. The product was voted ‘People’s Choice’ by the audience at Rootstech 2016 and also won the judge’s competition at the event.

This new partnership will give Twile users access to FindMyPast’s extensive, 8 billion-strong bank of family records, linking them directly with the information that can help complete their family history timeline. The two companies ultimately plan to develop a tool that allows FindMyPast customers to automatically display their family tree in a rich-media Twile timeline.

Annelies van den Belt, CEO of Findmypast, said:

“We are delighted with this partnership with such an innovative company as Twile. The RootsTech awards speak to the creativity of Twile and to win the People’s Choice award shows clearly that this is a product that the public wants. We believe that our partnership offers great value to both companies’ customers. At Findmypast we are committed to enhancing family history stories not just through new records but also through new technologies. Our aim is to make family history as easy and as rewarding as possible.”

Paul Brooks of Twile said:

"This is a huge opportunity for Twile and we are really pleased to be working with Findmypast. From our earliest conversations with them, it's been clear that they share our mission of making family history more engaging for the wider family, especially the younger generations. Our customers will see this relationship makes Twile better in every sense, while also adding a whole set of features that wouldn't have been possible otherwise."
